Darkest, unseen void

causing quickened pulse

Black as a sky unlit

by city lights glaring

Scented like moist earth

I need to visit and stay more often

Sounds like an orchestra

cicadas playing alongside crickets

Tastes like bitter dark chocolate

breaking as I delightedly bite down

Soft and purring superstition

soothing my slumber before dawn

I have a gray cat called Potato

Super soft and plush fur

He kneads faux biscuit dough

I love to hear his comforting purr

 When my heart shatters, you hold the pieces together
They won't become lost in your hands, and so I never lose myself

During my most joyful moments, I feel you as my silent dance partner
In triumphs, you cheer louder than any audible source I hear

When my feline companions are extra silly in their furry shenanigans
Perhaps you are there teasing them to give me a playful show

You had a way of putting a smile on my face that spread to my very center
Though you are gone, that gift has remained

Through all of my turbulent times, you bestow upon me a beam of sunlight
Never alone in any heavy darkness, I know you are sitting patiently with me 

You are here now, sending our music to my ears as I think of you
My most profound friend I have known, and a soul connection across our lives

I trust you are watching over my precious children
Though last time I saw you, they hadn't all made their Earthly debut

You told my oldest daughter through my growing belly
How excited you were to meet her, and suggested she not keep us waiting

My children all sense your presence, same as I do
One day we shall be united once more, though my purpose will keep me grounded here

I miss you fiercely, and pour gratitude to the stars
Thanking the Universe I keep knowing and loving you

We continue on, souls intertwining, love deepening every day
Rest easy, though your journey in this life ended so abruptly

You stay with me, continue to guide me, until we embrace once more

I have abundant gratitude to be cosmically interwoven together
